Splendour lineup changes

In some line-up changes, we regret to announce that THE TING TINGS are no longer able to perform at the 2010 event. Management has confirmed that “Due to the rescheduling of the next Tings Tings album to later in 2010 the band sadly have decided to delay their Australian tour and this of course means they will not be able to play Splendour in 2010.” However, ART vs SCIENCE will step into the fray with their loud, wickedly fun dance music played 100% live.

Since making their festival debut as part of triple j’s Splendour Unearthed competition, Sydney’s ART vs SCIENCE have crammed the kind of heady ascent experienced by the luckiest of bands into a timeline that belies their few short years. From regional pubs to national festivals the three-piece have built a massive following and have become a live powerhouse; selling out shows, ascending to festival favourites the nation over with their peculiar brand of madness. Or as one international headliner recently remarked: “how am I supposed to follow that?” Currently all over the nations airwaves, ‘Magic Fountain’ is the first taste of the highly anticipated forthcoming debut album from Art vs. Science, due for release in early 2011.

In additional line-up news, THE MIDDLE EAST is disappointed to announce that they are no longer able to perform at the 2010 event. Due to an extended recording schedule The Middle East will be withdrawing from the SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS line up to complete their debut album. The band apologises for any inconvenience caused. Replacing them will be the super talented SALLY SELTMANN, the artist previously known as New Buffalo. The new album Heart That’s Pounding re-introduces the world to Sally Seltmann who is the award-winning Australian songwriter behind ‘intoxicating’ albums such as The Last Beautiful Day and Somewhere, Anywhere. After the stripped-back elegance of Somewhere, Anywhere, Sally returns with an album that resounds with confidence, megawatt melodies and energising joy. The album’s bright-eyed feel is inspired by life changes. “I had a baby in late 2008 [with husband Darren Seltmann, from The Avalanches], and this was a dream come true for me. I think that’s the reason why the album is so uplifting. I also had success as a songwriter with Feist’s 1234 and that has made me believe in myself more as a songwriter,” says Sally. Heart That’s Pounding is an emotional and colourful journey, and is Sally’s most accomplished work to date.
