‘Waking Up’ is the debut album from Tash Parker, with deeply personal lyrics, yet somehow familiar, arrangements that are original without being exclusive. Tash grabs you upon first listen and then shakes you upon second, third and fourth listens. In this sense, her music simultaneously works on two levels; at surface, it’s fun and poppy; at bottom, it’s powerfully evocative art.
Picking up the guitar as a teenager, Tash quickly invited at the age of eighteen to support The Waifs on their national tour. 2009 her first single ‘I Take The Blame’ was released with Triple J and other community radio stations nation wide supporting it.
Fast-forward to 2010, Tash’s second single ‘Not Prepared’ hit the airwaves with once again support from Triple J. Next up, ‘Waking Up’, which was recorded with producer J. Walker (C.W. Stoneking, Andrew Morris and The Boat People). Wally De Backer helped out and produced two of the album’s tracks: ‘I Take The Blame’ and ‘When It Rains,’ Then in stepped Franc Tetaz and Andy Stewart to mix it and pretty much nailing down that the music industry is already behind Tash.
The final product, which will be released on October 29th on Tash’s record label, Little Buildings, and distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Inertia, is clean and sharp as cut glass, emphasizing her gentle voice without muffling the passion behind it.
Tash will be bring her beautiful album to life throughout October and November:
