Epicure announce their final shows as they call it a day.

After 10 years, 4 studio albums, a handful of EPs, various festival
appearances and hundreds of live shows around the Country, Epicure has
called it a day.

Ballarat’s most successful export over the past decade, Epicure has sold in
excess of 30,000 CDs since the release of their debut album, Fold back in
2000.  This release, with the members all still in their teens, introduced
the band to a National audience with support from the power of Triple J and
a continued touring schedule all over the Country.

The quintet released Armies Against Me, the 1st single from their sophomore
album, The Goodbye Girl, in 2003.  Probably Epicure’s most successful and
well known track, Armies spent months on the Triple J playlist and was
continually amongst the most requested by listeners of the National
broadcaster.  The song remained in the ARIA top 100 singles for weeks and
was voted at #21 in 2003’s Hottest 100 Countdown.

The Goodbye Girl also featured Life Sentence (also part of 2003’s Hottest
100), So Broken and Self Destruct in Five, which was voted into 2004’s most
popular 100 songs on Triple J in 2004.

Epicure toured extensively during this time, with several headline tours,
playing the Falls Festival, Big Day Out and a run of stadium dates
supporting US acts Live and Train.

Frontman & principle songwriter, Juan Alban remembers this time of the
band’s career . “It was a pretty magical time… we were doing all the
things we grew up dreaming of…”

2005 saw the release of Main Street.  A more lush production offering than
it’s predecessor and featuring a string quartet, this album produced yet
another radio hit, Tightrope Walker which has been the single most
downloaded track from the band’s full catalogue.

“. Main Street  . catchy pop/rock with forlorn melodies, heartbroken tales
of despair, lost love, rejuvenated love, hope, death, angst and a
professional recording with the acoustics complementing the impressive
string arrangements very nicely indeed.. ”

The band continued with their touring throughout the release of Main Street
, before returning to the studio to record what is their most impressive,
and sadly last, studio album.

” .. There is no doubt that with Postcards From A Ghost, Epicure have
released their best album to date. Immaculately crafted, sonically gorgeous,
and imbued with all their trademark beautiful melancholy, the new album sees
the band write the best songs of their career.. ”

Cobra Kisses was the 1st single lifted from Postcards, yet another radio
addition, a National run of dates with Mia Dyson and support slots with John
Butler Trio as well as silverchair & Powderfinger’s Across The Great Divide
Tour, preceeded the album release in 2008. Upon the release of
‘Postcards…’ the band also did a national run of dates with UK act Gomez.

Standout track, Landslide, was included on the Coastal Chill compilation
joining contemporaries such as The Panics, Lior and Josh Pyke.  The lovelorn
ballad, highlighting Juan Alban’s exquisite, haunting vocals, has been the
band’s biggest selling individual song at iTunes in recent Months.

Now, in 2010, a band that has captured the hearts of so many fans with their
emotive recordings and intense live performances over a 10 year period,
Epicure release their grand finale .

Quietly Into The Night – An Epicure Anthology.

The anthology includes Epicure’s singles, favourite album tracks, B sides
and a collection of videos and behind the scenes footage of what has been a
career that many Australian bands would be damn proud to be able to call
their own.

“We’d really like to thank anyone who came to a show, bought a record or
gave a damn… and thankyou for allowing us this last indulgence… it was a
great rock n roll dream.”

. Quiety into the night .
