MELBOURNE SHOWS FOR BLACKCHORDS

Grace Darling Hotel – Thursdays Oct 14, 21 & 28

“The sweeping, Americana-tinged rock of Blackchords’ self-titled debut is a beautiful tale about defeating the demons of self-doubt” - Music Australia Guide

There is seemingly no limit to the progression of Melbourne’s BLACKCHORDS. Following on from an incredible 2009 that saw the band release the critically acclaimed ‘Blackchords’ album here and in the UK, a successful European tour and constant performing within Australia.

After all that touring you wouldn’t blame them for taking an extended break, but Blackchords aren’t that kind of band. They’re about to hit the road again to promote the release of the new digital single ‘As Night Falls’ – written especially for ‘Blame’, a new Australian film, which debuted at this year’s MIFF.

Alongside their own headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, the band are heading to Perth to play a Liverpool Sound City showcase act for ONE MOVEMENT FESTIVAL on Saturday, Oct 9th. And if the festival showcase wasn’t enough, the band will also play the famous Aussie BBQ as part of One Movement as well.

Back in Melbourne, Blackchords will play a residency at Collingwood’s Grace Darling Hotel for 3 Thursdays in October with support from a special selection of Melbourne musicians each week (see below). To end the month of October in a big way, the band was delighted to accept an invitation to support Powderfinger in their final ever show in Melbourne at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on October 29th.

‘As Night Falls’ is now available via iTunes and various online outlets through Valleyarm Distribution

“Hangs in your head… fades, gathers itself and returns to haunt you some time later – a beauteous thing. And suggesting you should appreciate them while you can still see them, rather than the bigger venues they’ll probably soon inhabit” – Drum Media

“Nick Milwright’s voice brings a sincerity to these haunting offerings and this four piece have a definite international appeal. Get in there and discover Blackchords before they blow up” Inpress – Single Review 8/9/10

“The bridge of the new single As Night Falls was magic and the band gave the crowd a glimpse of unknowable and insurmountable emotion” – Inpress Magazine, Live Review from Revolver Show 25/8/10
