This November, triple j is celebrating our Ausmusic Month by touring a series of tribute concerts to the one and only Nick Cave.

The man

Nick Cave is an Australian music legend – he’s been on the scene for 35 years with various acts including The Birthday Party, Boys Next Door, The Bad Seeds and Grinderman.

His prolific amount of work – including Red Right Hand, Into My Arms, Where The Wild Roses Grow and Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! – have made him the most continually played artist on triple j across three decades, and ensured his regular appearance in the Hottest 100s.

Now Australian musicians are lining up to get involved in this tribute to the man himself – and are taking his music around the country.

The artists

A slew of talented Australian singers will join a band led by Cameron Bruce, who plays in Paul Kelly and Washington’s bands and was Musical Director for the acclaimed Kev Carmody tribute, Cannot Buy My Soul.

In alphabetical order the vocalists are: Abbe May, Adalita, Alex Burnett (Sparkadia), Ben Corbett* (Gentle Ben And His Sensitive Side/SixFtHick), Bertie Blackman, Dan Sultan, Jake Stone (Bluejuice), Johnny Mackay (Children Collide), Kram (Spiderbait), Lanie Lane, Lisa Mitchell, Muscles, Tim Rogers* (You Am I) and Urthboy (The Herd).*One off special guest.

The concept

For previous triple j Ausmusic Months, we’ve honoured the likes of The Go-Betweens and AC/DC with a tribute concert. Two years ago, triple j released its Paul Kelly – Before Too Long tribute as a CD/DVD, which went on to win an ARIA for Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show Album.

Each year, listeners have begged triple j to tour these tribute shows. This year we’re answering those calls. Starting in Geelong, the Straight To You tour will take in Ballarat, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane.

So get ready for some Nick Cave love!
