SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS GREEN TICKET

Giving patrons the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint!

After last year’s positive response to our Green Ticket initiative SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS is once again working with carbon offset provider Climate Friendly to neutralise the events’ carbon footprint.

Big congratulations to the 5,425 Splendour punters who put their money where their mouth is when it comes to tackling climate change. For the 2007 event, 31% of punters who attended SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS opted to buy a Green Ticket and neutralise their travel emissions to and from the show.

Together Splendour and our Green Ticket buyers neutralised over 1,000 tonnes of CO2, which is a huge effort. $18,987 was raised from the SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS Green Ticket initiative and organisers contributed $6,860 to cover internal festival emissions. These funds were invested via Climate Friendly in renewable energy generation (wind farms), providing a meaningful and long-term solution to our reliance on fossil fuels.

This year the SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS Green Ticket goes one step further and allows patrons to neutralise their average carbon emissions over a 48-hour period (not just their travel emissions). Australians generate on average a total of 28 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions or 77kg a day. For $7 on top of the SPLENDOUR event ticket price, purchasing a Green Ticket this year will neutralise 144kg of carbon (i.e. covering two days) making individual patrons climate neutral for the duration of the two-day event.

So everyone get in there and do it for for the future!! stay green!
