The “Young Modern Tour” will be the trio’s first national run of headlining dates in nearly four years and if their album launch in Sydney last Friday night is any indication it’s certain to produce some of the best live shows of the year.

The launch event came on the eve of the release of their fifth studio album ‘Young Modern’ which hit stores last Saturday. At that special show the band gave over 1000 enthusiastic ‘chair devotees a memorable taste of what is to come on their national tour.

Channel [V] will broadcast this exclusive launch performance with a special edition of whatUwant Channel [V]’s viewer request program – on Friday April 13th at 4pm (AEST). Repeats will follow on Sunday 15th at 4pm and Monday 16th at 7am. Silverchair have firmly established themselves as one of Australia’s finest bands and this rockin’ 90 minute special showcases the boys renewed enthusiasm for live performance. Only on Channel [V] will you see the complete set as they perform songs from their new album along with loads of classic tracks spanning their 12 year career.

whatUwant host James Kerley catches up with Daniel, Ben and Chris before the gig to get the low down on the new album and find out what it’s like to be back on top of the charts after their five year hiatus.

The launch event topped off an exciting couple of weeks for Silverchair, with the first track lifted from the album, ‘Straight Lines’, debuting at #1, their first single to do so in over a decade. It’s still at the top of the charts after three weeks.
