Queenscliff Music Festival announces second line-up

Queenscliff Music Festival have revved up the festival heat even more this summer with a second round announcement of acts to add to the already blistering 2011 line up. The Queenscliff Music Festival takes place over the weekend of 25-26-27 November showcasing the best in past, present and future Australian and world music.

 

New acts to join the line up include solo performances by UK’s Simon Breed, as well as two of Australia’s great songwriters Mick Harvey and David Bridie. Also announced are The Brothers Grim and The Blue Murders who bring their moon howling, sweat dripping, groin shaking fervour to the QMF stages, uber Cool jazzster Sarah McKenzie, international troubadour Carus Thompson, and Latin funk fusion maestros A French Butler Called Smith. 

 

UK singer songwriter Simon Breed, front man/guitarist of 90’s cult band The Breed, will perform with the band he credits as his main influence, The Triffids. He will also stage his own set of signature intensely captivating narratives populated by mutilated animals, golems and urban wildlife. This is the first time that Breed, who is the darling of the UK press and in particular loved by the mighty John Peel, will be seen in Australia.

 

In the vein of rare solo sets, Mick Harvey’s performance at QMF see’s him return to Australia to take part in The Triffids showcase as well as performing songs from his recent album “Sketches from The Book of The Dead”. David Bridie will perform with his band My Friend The Chocolate Cake and will also stage a special solo performance in the beautiful surrounds of the Vue Grand Hotel.

 

The festival is also pleased to announce Fiona Scott-Norman – A Needle and the Damage Done, doo-wop Pop ‘n soul outfit BOOM! BAP! POW!,Melbourne’s crazy funk explosion The Skylines, swampy blues road trippers The Delta Riggs, song smiths The Widowbirds, along with Pete Denahy, President Roots, Dead River Deeps, Laura Hill, Carter Rollins, John Flanagan & The Begin Agains, Brian Fraser, Jason Lowe, Blackwood Jack…………………with yet  more to come!

Acts already announced include The Triffids & Friends, Eskimo Joe, Gypsy & The Cat, The Cruel SeaThe Herd, Kimbra, The Beautiful  Girls, The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker, Oh Mercy, The Bamboos with Kylie Auldist, No Fixed Address, Vince Jones, Shane Nicholson,Wagons, Christine Anu, Stonefield. Pseudo Echo, Richard Clapton, Lanie Lane, My Friend The Chocolate Cake, Mat McHugh, The Bondi Cigars, Leah Flanagan, The Red Eyes, The Blackeyed Susans, Amaya Laucirica, Puta Madre Brothers, Nat Col & The Kings, The Snowdroppers , The Wayne Jury Three, Sweethearts, John-Luke Shelley & High Speed Steel and Gossling.

2011 DEVELOPMENTS:

  • ·         1000 camping spaces costing $30 for the entire weekend with full facilities for the first time in the festivals history.
  • ·         A change of festival location back to Queenscliff’s original 1997 point overlooking Port Phillip Bay on the pristine green of Princess Park.
  • ·         The long-awaited return of the celebrated Pelican Bar with its blues and roots focus.

  • ·         Over 100 acts giving over 150 performances across 5 stages in the Princess Park festival precinct as well as on the “QMF Family Express” historic steam train and music stages in the towns’ unique and beautiful venues – the Queenscliff Inn, Vue Grand and Lombardys on Hesse.
  • ·         For those living on the Mornington Peninsula the revamped Sorrento-Queenscliff Ferry is offering festivalgoer’s a great deal via the festival website, purchase a return car trip and you and all your passengers ride for free
  • ·         Single Session Tickets! The Friday night session ticket is $50 (inc B/F), The Sunday is just $65 (incl B/F), and Saturday all day ticket is $99 (inc B/F)!  Sat night (after 6pm) is also available for $55 (inc B/F).
