Paul Kelly heads the lineup for ‘Song for Stuart’ fundraiser

An intimate evening with Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, Kate Ceberano   friends. Leading lights of Melbourne’s music community will come together on 7 August to celebrate the life of one of its most respected members, Stuart Speed.
Stuart Speed was an outstanding musician – a talented bass player who worked with many of the legends of Australian music, including Paul Kelly, Kate Ceberano and Renee Geyer. Stuart also supported Billy Joel on his Australian tour, and performed across the UK and Europe.
Stuart died three years ago, after a long period of care at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Stuart’s father and friends have decided to stage a concert to celebrate his life and raise funds for St Vincent’s new Cancer Centre.
Hosted by Wilbur Wilde, the concert will bring together a star-studded line-up of iconic Australian artists – Paul Kelly, Kate Ceberano, Renee Geyer, Vika   Linda, Phil Ceberano, Gerry Hale’s ‘Uncle Bill’, Jex Saarelaht and Russell Shayer – united for a common purpose. They will be performing in a unique and intimate venue, St Michael’s Church at 120 Collins Street, Melbourne.
St Vincent’s Chief Executive Officer, Patricia O’Rourke, said St Vincent’s was honoured to have such a high calibre of performers assembled for a worthy cause:
We are about to build a brand new cancer centre that will treat twice as many people as we can today. All net proceeds from A Song for Stuart will support the St Vincent’s Cancer Centre Appeal.
The quality of the cancer care provided by our staff is second to none – but the environment in which they provide that care is more than 40 years old.
We urgently need to build this new Cancer Centre so we can offer our patients first class healthcare in a first class environment, #8219; said Ms O’Rourke.
Tickets are on sale via St Vincent’s Melbourne: Premium $120, A Reserve $110, Wing $100 and Standing room $80. To buy tickets go to www.svhm.org.au. Corporate entertainment packages ($350 per person) are also available, with hospitality delivered in Melbourne’s new and exclusive venue – The Residence at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne (directly opposite St Michael’s).
