John Butler has claimed new album April Uprising is his best work to date.

The West Australian-based singer said working on the album with his new band members helped his creativity.

“It’s interesting to see a band come together and the first thing they do is create and produce together,” Butler said.

“We came in as three producers, three writers, three players. We went into the laboratory to produce the best thing we could and here we are.

What an interesting way to start a relationship. Personally I feel we’ve created something very special that will stand the test of time – it’s my best work to date.”

April Uprising is the first full -length studio release from the band since 2007’s Grand National.

It is also the first album for Butler and his new bandmates.

In June last year Butler announced Melbourne musician Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and bass player Byron Luiters from Sydney outfit Ray Mann Three as new members of his trio.

The John Butler Trio will release April Uprising in Australia on Friday 26 March.
