Gotye hits no.1 in the US
For the first time since Jan 2000, an Australian artists sits atop the charts in the US.
Somebody That I Used To Know, the track that took out this years Triple J Hottest 100 has reached the top in 20 countries (33 countries on iTunes), and sold over 5 million copies worldwide.
It’s only the 6th song to reach no.1 in the US from Australia, the other 5 going to Savage Garden (2), Men at work (2), and INXS.
Not bad for a song that almost never made it to the light of day, good work Wally. As for Kimbra, it’s probably safe to say she’s reached a high enough success that we can count her as one of our own.
