Splendour tickets being sold on eBay

After listening to J and The Doctor on Triple J this morning, I was waiting for something like this to be announced, so many people missed out on tickets to the event, and or camping, and there are heaps of tickets for sale on eBay for much more than the original sale price.

The below was sent out as a media release at 2pm today (May 11, 2005).

With SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS now officially SOLD OUT, organisors wish to strongly urge patrons NOT to purchase tickets through unauthorised sellers in desperation to gain entry to the event.

All SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS event tickets are sold on the condition that they are nontransferable and may not be resold at a premium. Additionally, each SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS event ticket has security features that allow the organisers to determine if these conditions have been breached. All tickets will be checked on entry. Put simply, if these conditions have not been complied with YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ACCESS TO THE FESTIVAL. Therefore we do not recommend the purchase of tickets from EBAY, scalpers or other unauthorised outlets. These tickets are being sold in breach of the conditions of sale and have also proven to be counterfeit in the past.

“The speed at which Splendour In The Grass tickets have sold has taken us by surprise. While we are pleased Splendour has been received well, we are concerned tickets were purchased by a few individuals who intend to sell them at a premium via such outlets as EBAY. We have taken legal advice and intend to deal with these unauthorised sales to the best of our ability. It is a sad state of affairs when people who genuinely want to attend the event are unable to because of unscrupulous individuals profiteering at our patrons’ expense.” said Jessica Ducrou, Splendour in the Grass co-promoter.

SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS organisors do not condone the sale of event tickets through any unauthorised means as they are in breach of the conditions of sale. SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS organisors intend to take legal action against those trying to profiteer at the expense of legitimate audience members.
