Groovin the Moo 09 – Going off the beaten track in 09

THREE TOWNS, THREE STATES, THREE WEEKENDS

Townsville QLD | Maitland NSW | Bendigo VIC

Presented nationally by Cattleyard Promotions, triple j, j mag and MySpace

Presented and sponsored locally in Townsville by The Townsville Bulletin, in Maitland by The Newcastle Herald and Drum Media and in Bendigo by Inpress and The Bendigo Advertiser

For the first time ever, touring regional music event, Groovin the Moo, will be stopping into three towns, across three states over three weekends in May! The 2009 events will feature an array of Australia’s finest artists, some Groovin the Moo veterans and some Groovin the Moo first-timers, with a handful of well known and up and coming International artists thrown in for good measure.

The Groovin the Moo 09 Tour diary will kick off at Lou Litster Park in Townsville QLD on 2 May followed by Maitland Showground in Maitland NSW (near Newcastle) on 9 May with the final stop being Bendigo’s Prince of Wale’s Showground in Bendigo VIC on 16 May. Featuring two main stages and a huge circus big top playing home to the dance tent, each show will also sport plenty of homegrown cheer with a chillout area, a free water tent, slingshot ride, licensed bar facilities and a variety of local food and market stalls.

Through it’s fully charged atmosphere and the friendly, country hospitality it offers, Groovin the Moo has become a fixture on the Australia music event calendar with the regional events almost doubling in size and numbers with each passing year. In 2008, the Maitland show (in it’s third year) sold out in four weeks with the Townsville show (in it’s first year), selling out on the day – 2009 is the inaugural year for the Bendigo event.

“We’ve reached quite a milestone this year as Groovin the Moo turns five. It really has come of age and for 2009 we have added half a dozen outstanding international acts to accompany the fantastic Australian lineup. Last year, the Maitland event sold out in a record time and our first event in Townsville exceeded all expectations so we knew we could plan for an even bigger 2009…this ended up being taken one step further by adding a third event in Bendigo into the mix for an interstate regional tour!?, said Stephen Halpin, Festival Promoter, Cattleyard Promotions.

Tickets go on sale Monday 16 February 2009, however for those who want to ensure they won’t miss out on going to the event closest to them, MySpace and Groovin the Moo are offering a special presale opportunity for all MySpace friends of Groovin the Moo from Wednesday 11 February. Only a limited number of tickets are available for presale, so get in quick as presale tickets sell fast and sell out!

In yet another exciting development and first time occurrence in 2009, Groovin the Moo will have the honour of providing a live outlet for three lucky triple j unearthed winners at each of the three events. Original bands and artists residing in each of the Groovin the Moo regions need to keep an ear on triple and an eye on www.groovinthemoo.com for further information and updates about being in the running for this opportunity. Without further ado, Groovin the Moo is keen as mustard throw into the spotlight artists who will be hitting the road and traveling slightly off the beaten touring track for each event across QLD, NSW and VIC…please welcome;
